How It Works | Batch 22 Bakery Blog

how it works (updated 8/22/21)

By now you might have seen a handful of home bakeries pop up in the bay area with a variety of ordering, delivery and pickup options. We opened in May of 2020, in the early days of the Coronavirus pandemic and we've grown a lot.

Tl;dr we first took orders by DM, then transitioned to a lean custom-built site, and finally made the move to Shopify. Now our website should look and feel like (almost) any other business :)

This is how it works:

We take pre-orders for each week, deliver cookies locally on Thursdays, and offer pickups in Cupertino on Fridays. Order by Tuesday 11pm PT each week. We set this deadline so that we can ensure we have enough time to prepare your order.

  1. Select your cookies
  2. Add to Cart
  3. Select local delivery (Thursday) or pickup (Friday 3-9pm in Cupertino)
    1. enter your zip code in your Cart to verify whether we deliver to you. if not, pickup is always free.
  4. Checkout using credit card

If you miss the order deadline for the current week, you can place an order for the following week. You can also place orders up to 60 days in advance.

Edit -- 8/22/21

We're now a year and a half in to running this business, and we still get a lot of calls asking if cookies can be picked up right away. Unfortunately while we've invested in some commercial equipment, we still can't support on-demand delivery or pickups. However, we plan to add a second delivery & pickup day after we get our new mixer. That will allow us to make much larger quantities of dough. We look forward to being more accessible for those who live further away, and being available for weekend parties and events!
